Life Lessons in Yoga Class
By
I learn some of the best life lessons in yoga class. Of course, doing the poses always brings awareness to where I’m holding and where I am letting go. But more than that, one of my yoga teachers, John, usually says a gem of a phrase in each class that causes me to pause and reflect.
He reminded us today to appreciate ourselves every day. It may mean doing something to acknowledge yourself, or just taking a moment to say silently to yourself: “You did a really great job today”. Or, “It was so fantastic the way you helped that client”.
Take time to give yourself a pat on the back and celebrate all of who you are being every day. This is a great time of year to start that as a new daily habit.
Another pearl of wisdom from my yoga teacher today: “The best yoga pose is learning to stand on your own two feet.”
Now how about that for wise advice!
