Seven Ways to Expand Your Business by Writing
ByThere are numerous ways you can promote your business as well as stay in touch with your prospective clients by writing. Some common formats of written works include ezines, articles, e-courses, free reports, booklets, and ebooks and how-to manuals.
Writing allows you to demonstrate your knowledge in your specialty area and provide valuable information that prospects can use. It also sets you up as an expert in their eyes and people like to hire experts.
Here are seven different ways you can promote your professional service business by writing:
Newsletter or Ezine
An ezine is the #1 way to promote your services online. Offering a newsletter or an ezine along with a free report or a course by email is one the easiest ways to grow your database for your business and stay in touch with prospects and clients.
Articles
Writing articles is a very effective way to promote your business both online and offline. Post your articles in your ezine and at your website or blog. There are many journals, magazines, and online directories what will publish your article and give you exposure to a wide audience. Include your contact information at the bottom of all articles so that people can get in touch with you if they like what they read.
Ecourse
An ecourse, or course by email, is a very simple way to give away some of what you know so that people get a taste of what it would be like to work with you. This type of course is typically a brief lesson sent each day over several days.
Free Report
Giving away a free report at your website is an effective enticement to encourage people to sign up for your ezine. People like free giveaways, and if you provide value and demonstrate your knowledge of a topic they are interested in, you might gain a client.
Booklets
Booklets are an effective marketing tool to give away, or can be an additional income stream if you sell them at your website or to a corporate client. Small booklets can be created quickly by creating a list of short tips for your readers.
Ebooks
If you’re thinking about self-publishing your book, consider creating it as an ebook. Ebooks, or electronic books, are sold digitally online and can add a nice additional revenue stream to your business. You can create an ebook quickly by packaging your series of articles.
How-To Manuals
Package what you know into a how-to manual. Or, combine it with audio for a complete home study course. Look at what existing workshops or training material you already have that you could package this way.
Block out time this week to get your creative juices flowing and start putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) to start one of the above writing projects. You’ll gain more clients, more passive income and eventually, expert status.
