Steve walked us through his 5 step process for finding your niche. We learned why a niche is so critical to your business success.

What’s your niche advantage?
You only have to do one thing better than anyone else on the planet to have a niche advantage. What is that one thing for you that everyone else notices you do so very well, but you probably take for granted? The goal is to become ‘famous’ in your niche. No need to expand your marketing efforts outside your niche.
You can stand out to and create a niche for yourself by thinking differently, challenging conventional wisdom, and having a unique perspective or point of view. Dare to be different. Don’t be afraid to be controversial or innovative.
Don’t try to be everything to everybody. For most products and services, there is only one specific market of high potential clients. Figure out and focus on what your target audience needs. Look for gaps in the market that you can fill.
There are two ways to develop and dominate a niche:
- dominate a tightly defined target market – become the #1 player in a specific industry or associated group
- dominate a tightly defined specialty area – become know for your specialized expertise or unique process
